2024 Canadian Futures Showcase: Final Roster Annoucement

by Nick Prasad

Today, the final selections for the Canadian Futures Showcase were released by the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy. The tournament comprises the top 150 players in the nation. Weeks ago, the Jays released the first 75 names.

Team Ontario Baseball is well represented on this list, sporting various names of interest across the province and nation. Team O has five names listed in this year’s showcase. The first name added to the list was on the first 75 players announced, right-handed pitcher, Thomas Khan.

Khan displayed great ability on the mound in 2024, and his numbers were aligned with his off-season development. The statistics posted for Khan attests to his command and durability with his pitch options.

Another valuable name added to the list came from Team Ontario’s 17U program. Right-hander Nathan Kirouac found his groove on the hill and became extremely reliable as a starting option. As the scouting coordinator, my favorite attribute of Kirouac is his consistency and ability to adjust and correct on command.

Kirouac’s performance overall is a testament of his work ethic, and a product of his off-season program. His body filled-out and his mechanics refined the more in-game work he got. His fastball established well, commanded extremely well while topping 89 mph. There is without a doubt he’s projected to sit mid-90s.

Hudson Kiss has been making his rounds within the amateur baseball world. From the Ontario Youth Team to the PBR Futures Games, Kiss has showcased a wide range of tools and athleticism. He has defined his strength, his agility, and ability to be a prime defender with a good bat.

Dylan Zarketsky is one to watch. He played with the Team O’s 16U power-house team. Zaretsky is extremely physical with an athletic frame and hard-contact swing. The Indiana Prospect sports raw power with the ability to play both first base and behind the dish.

Matthias Lipka is also another name striking the interest from scouts and recruiters north and south of the border. He’s a 2026 graduate with a long workable arm, topping a 85 mph fastball with more in the tank. He stands 6’4” with a lot to offer on the mound.

The Canadian Futures Showcase will take place on September 17th - 21st at the Rogers Center in Toronto, ON.

Stay tuned for further scouting information and updates.
