2024 Draft Eligible RHP Julian Robertson: Scouting Report Update

SCOUTING REPORT UPDATE:

2024 DRAFT ELIGIBLE - RHP JULIAN ROBERTSON

Team Ontario pitchers are on the on-ramp in the facilities as they prepare to step on the field as early as this weekend. Pitchers have been working diligently through live bullpen sessions, facing hitters and working their pitch arsenals.

One arm that has been making extreme noise is Team Ontario 18U right-hander Julian Robertson. Robertson has developed into a very good projectable arm and holds a physical structure promising at the next level. Robertson is committed to Ohio University, NCAA division 1, and is draft eligible in the upcoming 2024 Major League Baseball draft. Team Ontario Scouting Coordinators and College Placement coordinators charted, recorded, and observed Robertson’s recent bullpen sessions and solidified the rate of his performance improvements. Here is copy of the most recent report on the big-right hander:

SCOUTING SYNOPSIS UPDATE - RHP JULIAN ROBERTSON

Julian Robertson pitched in various live bullpen sessions ranging at approximately 20-25 pitches per session dating early April to April 11th. Robertson is in his on-ramp stage where he is preparing for the pre-season and the regular season to begin.

On April 4th, Robertson threw a session split into two, facing live hitters of the 17U and 18U lineup. He threw a total of 28 pitches, majority of those being fastballs. He finished with an overall 75% strike rate, a 50% hit-spot percentage and hovered around a consistent 89-90mph. Robertson had worked flat-ground work that week along with a non-charted live bullpen. This played a part in his velocity capped where it was due to recovery and turnaround time.

On April 11th he pitched a 20-pitch live session with rest allotted. Healthy observations were made as his delivery was a lot looser with better arm action and use of his lower half. His delivery, release, and finish were consistent and repeatable. The ball flew out of his hand and pitches were executed efficiently. His command was on point amongst his fastball and breaking pitches. Going five-over, he finished at a total 0f 25-pitches with a 60% overall strike rate with a 58.3% hit-spot percentage, a max velocity of 93mph which was measured four times during his warmup bullpen session. His live-session velocity averaged at 90.5mph at a consistent rate, and lived at 92mph for his last three batters.

Robertson’s velocity increased as he worked forward into his outing. Another impressive observation was his slider that he worked effectively with strong sweeping-break on the inside to both righties and lefties. His changeup worked low and gave chase with hitters, showing a noticeable velocity differential.
