Adrian Salas signs with Niagara CCC

by Jason Booth

Adrian Salas has been signed by Niagara County Community College (NJCAA-III) for the 2023 season!

Salas came to Team Ontario after growing up and playing baseball in Etobicoke before he joined the Team Ontario Astros in his 18U year. He played select and AA ball until the age of 14 taking it to the AAA level until joining the Team Ontario program.

Salas came to us as a catcher in his referral year because of the reputation of the program, as he wanted to pursue his goal of playing College level baseball. He was excited by the coaches and the facility and believed that Team Ontario had what it took to help him reach his goal. He will be joining the Niagara College Thunder Wolves next season.

Adrian joins a potent offence at NCCC as they are coming off a fabulous season last year going 49-11, with a team batting average of .349 and 45 home runs collectively.

When we asked him about what he thought made the difference, he remembered back to the Fall trips as they taught him what it looks like to be a college-level player and how to effectively balance being a student and playing baseball.

In 2022 the Team Ontario Astros annual college tour consisted of ten days of games at different colleges and universities across the United States, including stops for different tournament play as well. Hitting schools in multiple states players were able to experience college-level programs in different conferences.

His advice for future players is to never give up! “The only way you will get to what you want is to never stop working, even if it is a grind.” Salas also wanted to thank his coaches and teammates for the impact they have had on him as a player.

Good luck to you, Adrian as you take this next step!
