Alex Nolan re-signs with the Toronto Blue Jays

by Jason Booth

Earlier today the Toronto Blue Jays announced they had re-signed formed Team Ontario right-hander Alex Nolan. Nolan will be assigned to the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound right-hander pitched for Team Ontario back in 2014 and his career has continued to trend upwards since. He signed with the Blue Jays back in 2019 and pitched to a 3.22 ERA that season through 58.2 innings that season for the short season Vancouver Canadians. The Burlington native struck out 35 and walked just 11.

Nolan didn't pitch in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic that wiped out the minor league season and kept many of their prospects off the field entirely.

Nolan pitched for Team Ontario back in 2014 and went on to play for two seasons for the Brock Badgers, becoming one of just a select few players to play in pro baseball after spending time in the OUA.

He also spent three straight summers from 2017-2019 with the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods League where a strong 2019 campaign led to a contract with his hometown Toronto Blue Jays.

Best of luck in Dunedin, Alex!
