Alumni Kyle Perrett named to First-Team All-Conference

by Jason Booth

It was a great week for Team Ontario alumnus Kyle Perrett who was named to WHAC's First Team All-Conference and also claimed the WHAC Conference Title with a two-game sweep over Madonna University in the final.

Perrett made three appearances during the WHAC Conference Tournament including the tournament clinching 2-1 victory over Madonna on Tuesday. The Toronto native worked three total innings and allowed one hit, three walks, three runs and struck out four.

With the conference title in the bag, Northwestern Ohio has secured an automatic bid in the 2021 NAIA Baseball National Championship Tournament, starting with the Opening Round from May 17-20

Perrett was dominant out of the bullpen for the University of Northwestern Ohio throughout the entire season and was recognized by the conference ahead of the tournament. The former Team Ontario right-hander was the only relief pitcher in the conference to receive First-Team honours. Heading into the conference tournament, Perrett had only allowed three earned runs across 16 appearances while averaging over a strikeout per inning.

Currently a junior, Perrett graduated from the program in 2017 and originally attended Wabash Valley Community College, a powerhouse Division I NJCAA program. In Perrett's second and final year at Wabash Valley, the team went 55-4 but ultimately wasn't able to finish the job, something he's hoping his Racers can do this year.

It's clear Perrett has taken all he learned from the success of Wabash Valley's program and carried that into his time at Northwestern Ohio. He's really taken a big step forward in 2021 and will be a huge piece of the pitching puzzle for the Racers in 2021.

Everyone at Team Ontario wishes Kyle continued success throughout the entirety of the NAIA Tournament and will continue to keep the program updated as the Northwestern Ohio Racers continue to march through the postseason.
