Four players compete at Blue Jays Canadian Futures Showcase

Four Team Ontario players were named to the Toronto Blue Jays Canadian Futures Showcase last month in Ottawa, Ontario. The event hosted the top 150 high school players from the across country, including 2023 SS Tristan DesRochers, 2023 LHP Matt Marsh (Niagara), 2023 SS Evan Gunn and 2024 RHP Julian Robertson.

The event was originally slated for the Rogers Centre where it has become a staple in the Canadian amateur baseball world but was transitioned to RCTG park due to a conflict. Over the years, the event has seen double-digit players reach the big leagues along with over 100 drafted.

Notably, DesRochers and Gunn both put together quality at-bats throughout the entire tournament and had their bats on full display. Both were named to the All-Star Game to end the week and Gunn participated in the Home Run Derby.

All four players represented the organization tremendously well with their play on the field, as well as how carried themselves around the event. Team Ontario is incredibly proud of these four and what they have accomplished.
