Gillis Commits to Brock University

by Jason Booth

Team Ontario's Cam Gillis has committed to Canadian University baseball powerhouse Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario. The 3rd Basemen and right handed pitcher will be joining the OUA Champions of 02, 04, 10, 14, who has also branched out this past season with adding 6 different US Colleges on their schedule including NCAA D1 schools St Bonvatenture University and Canisius College.

Gillis has been a very versatile player in our program showing the ability to step up and play any position needed and excel defensively at any position on the field. He spent 3 strong years in the program making diving catches in the outfield, striking out batters on the mound, producing in the middle of order at the plate and making all the plays on the infield as he stepped up as a utility player that the program could rely on day in and day out at any position on the field. Moving through the program to 2 years on the 18u team, Cam has become a key defender at 3rd base and spending more time on the mound becoming a key member of the starting rotation, with a firm fastball complemented by a plus splitter and breaking ball. Cam Played a key role back in 2018 helping lead the offensive surge that helped the 16u team to make it to the finals of Perfect Game Columbus. He was named to the All Tournament team and scored the winning run in pool play that guaranteed the 16u team a spot into championship rounds, which lead to eventual runner up finish.

Team Ontario Baseball wish Cam Gillis all best in the future as he start his university career this fall both on and off the field as a student athlete.
