Scouting Report

By: Nick Prasad, Scouting Coordinator

Jones is 6’0” 200lbs and displays a full combination of upper and lower body strength. His lower half is

always athletically engaged with evident high explosive abilities shown in his defensive performance as

well as his base running.

He set’s up well in the box with an athletic boxed-stance, staying loose and times up his swing well for

the fastball. He has great bat speed, bringing his hands in and the barrel through the zone. Jones has

raw power, and drives it up to 101.2mph max exit velocity. His approach is

calculated and he’s not afraid to bite first-pitch fastball. He has the ability to use all fields but primarily

lives pull-side.

Defensively, Jones covers ground with speed and noticeable agility. He works well with his feet and gets

good early reads. His to-date 60-yard time sits at 6.98s with room to polish. This is complimented by a

well above average arm averaging 85mph from this position and touched 90mph from the outfield, again; with room to polish. His speed can

translate well on the base-pads if he gets good reads. Jones is heads up with his base running and can

lead teams in on-base advantage. Jones is very projectable and he is only getting stronger. He will be a

very good piece to his new school and with proven numbers, could be in the draft mix.
