Matt Rogers commits to Southwestern CC

by Jason Booth

18U left-handed pitcher/centre fielder Matt Rogers has announced his commitment to Southwestern Community College, a Division I NJCAA program in Creston, Iowa.

The Southwestern Spartans compete in one of the top junior college conferences, the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) which typically has multiple teams in the national rankings.

The Southwestern program has continued to develop players over the years and have them ready to move onto four-year programs, with nine players moving onto the Division I level in the past ten years.

Rogers will join his current teammate, Kaedan Thompson, at Southwestern. As previously mentioned in Thompson's recruit article, the Southwestern program continues to rely on Canadian players to drive their program and they do so again with these two Team Ontario players.

Rogers joined our program this past year and impressed in that short time with his athleticism that allows him to man centre field while also working well on the mound.

The Toronto native has worked hard during his time with Team Ontario this past year despite the challenges that came along with it and he persevered to make this happen.

Team Ontario would like to congratulate Matt on this accomplishment and look forward to following him and Thompson during their two years in Iowa.
