Nixon Commits to NCAA D1 Radford University

by Jason Booth

Team Ontario alumni Shane Nixon has committed to NCAA D1 Radford University. Radford is a member of the Big South conference, where they have captured conference championships in 2015 and 2017. Most recently the Radford  Highlanders finished the 2019 season with a 30-27 record including a win over Wake Forest.

Shane is a Team Ontario of grad 2018 when he start his college baseball career at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid. In the 2019 season Shane was a member of the Northern Oklahoma Jets team that won the NJCAA D2 National Championship. In the 2020 season that was cut short by the Covid 19 outbreak, Shane as the starting SS was batting .378 with 1 HR, 8 RBI , 16 runs and 5 Stolen bases.

Shane is great example to our current and future Team Ontario players demonstrating how hard work on and off the field and in the classroom get you where you want to go. He is also a great example that attending Junior College is a great option, as Shane got  lots of playing time early on in his college career.

We wish Shane the best in his athletic and academic career as he moves onto Radford University from Northern Oklahoma College this coming fall.
