Opening Weekend Bats and Arms Shine with 1 Hit Performance and 35 Runs Scored by 15u

Opening Weekend for Team Ontario Astros 15u and 16u teams.

Team Ontario Astros 15U Team

Friday night's 25-2 Win

The 15u's started on fire last Friday night in Pickering vs the Ontario Yankess putting up 25 runs in a shorten 6 inning game. On top of the big offensive performance, came some dominating pitching, as 3 pitchers (Karanopolous, Arturi and Fadden) combined for a 1 hitter.  Karanopoulos got the ball on opening night on the mound going 3 innings with multiple strikeouts, surrendering only 1 hit. In relief Arturi and Fadden came and attacked hitters not allowing the Yankees any chance to sneak back into the game. 

Offensive highlights

-Myers 3-4 at the bat    -Gonsalves multiple RBI night with a double     -Caietta doubled with multiple RBI's   

-Brannon tripled with multiple RBI's    - Boyack and King 2 base knocks each

Saturdays DH split 4-3 Win,  9-6 Lose 

The 15u's took on the Terriers, splitting the double dip on Saturday night. Caietta took the ball on the mound in game 1 going a strong 2 IP, turning the ball over to Arturi for a strong 3 IP hold with multiple strikeouts before Karanopolous getting the the 2 IP save closing the door for the Win 

The teams strong offense continued on Saturday with 3 Home Runs including a leadoff Home Run by Gonsalves,  Alberto Home Run  and a oppo taco Grand slam by Caietta. 

Offensive Highlights 

-Gonsalves HR, tripled, multiple RBI's   -Alberto HR, some hard lined shots    -Caietta Grandslam HR

-King 2B    -Fadden 2B    -Woodcock couple base knocks 


Team Ontario Astros 16U Team

Saturday DH split with a 8-5 Win   

The 16U's opened up Saturday morning against the Terriers with a double header split on the day. Clarke took the mound as the starter going 3IP, who was then Relieved by Parent. Clarke threw strong and fought through so tough sleepy defense at the start, but doing what a starter is suppose to and that is give your team a chance. Clarke keep the boys in it, which allowed the offense to get going. Parent then throw a very strong 4IP getting the W in relief with multiple strikeouts and creating lots of weak contact. 

Katz took the mound in game 2 for the start going 3 IP making a lot of good pitches but facing a tough tight strike zone. Katz pitched out of a couple jams, before being relieved by Kelly and Heu. Lavierie was a big at the plate leading the offensive charge, driving baseballs hard peppering the gaps and middle of the field, as well as Hilliard driving balls to all fields for doubles and Triples 

Offensive highlights 

-Shea couple multi hit games   -White had some squared up base hits  -Lavierie mutli RBI's and hits

-Repath multiple hits, doubled off the wall  - Savage 3B with multiple RBI's 

 -Hilliard multi RBI's loud hard hit baseballs with 2B, 3B
