Steven Fiorino commits to Danville Area CC

by Jason Booth

Team Ontario is excited to announce 18U infielder Steven Fiorino has committed to Danville Area Community College, a Division II NJCAA program in Danville, Illinois. The Jaguars baseball club competes in the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) with eight member schools all based out of Illinois.

Danville is currently 20-14 on the season and as of the writing of this article the team is in the second round of the Region 24 Championship.

"I chose Danville because I was able to build a good relationship with the coach and felt as though Danville was the right fit for me," says Fiorino, a 5-foot-10 second baseman/third baseman. "They also have a strong, competitive team that I look forward to contributing towards."

Steven has been with the Team O program for two years now and has been a leader within the program with his hard work but also with his attitude and the way he carries himself.

"Over the past two seasons Steven has been a leader in our program on and off the field," says Jason Booth, Team Ontario's Director of Baseball Operations. "Team Ontario Baseball would like to congratulate him on this outstanding achievement and wish him the best in his future baseball endeavours."

The Stouffville native's versatility has been key to his success with the program. He can play multiple positions on the infield and found some success on the mound as well, although he works out strictly on the infield now. Fiorino worked extremely hard over the past year to achieve his goals despite the circumstances and he says all that work is now paying off.

"From the first day I stepped into the Team O organization, the coaching staff made me feel comfortable, but always kept pushing me to do my best," added Fiorino. "They also provided me with the resources to better myself during the pandemic that helped me achieve my goal."

We look forward to following Steven during his time at Danville and wish him the best of luck!
