Team Ontario Alumni Report: Week Eight

by Jason Booth

It was yet another exciting week for us here at Team Ontario following all of our alumni competing at the collegiate level right now. We saw David McCabe blast a home run in his first weekend back in Charlotte's starting nine, we saw Drew Nixon pick up his third home run of the season and we also saw freshman Noah Murciano extend his hitting streak to eight games.

There were several other big performances across the organization beyond these three and we take a look at all of them below:

NOAH MURCIANO, FRESHMAN, SUSSEX COUNTY CC (NJCAA)

9-for-26 (.346), .414 OBP, 2B, 6 R, 6 RBI, 3 BB
Murciano continued to do damage at the plate this weekend which saw the former Team Ontario catcher extend his hitting streak eight games. In a Sunday doubleheader sweep for the Skylanders, Murciano went 3-for-6 with a double, three runs, three RBI and two walks. Sussex County scored 31 runs on the day and Murciano was a big part, alongside Jamie Cabral.

JAMIE CABRAL, FRESHMAN, SUSSEX COUNTY CC (NJCAA)

Cabral has really come together at the dish as of late and we saw that again this weekend with Sussex County putting up huge numbers on Sunday. Cabral went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks in game two against Orange County CC.

DAVID MCCABE, FRESHMAN, UNC CHARLOTTE (NCAA DI)

25-for-79 (.316), 9 HR, 5 2B, 18 R, 20 RBI, 8 BB, HBP, SB
This was McCabe's first weekend back in Charlotte's regular lineup following an injury and he didn't miss a beat as the 49ers picked up 3 of 4 against UTSA. The first baseman went 4-for-12 with a home run, double, one run scored, two RBI and three walks. The Oshawa native continues to impress in his second season with Charlotte.

GRAEHAM LUTTOR, JUNIOR, MIDWAY UNIVERSITY (NAIA)

27-for-112 (.241), .371 OBP, 3 HR, 3B, 7 2B, 23 R, 19 RBI, 14 BB, 11 HBP
After a slow start to the season Luttor has been getting on-base at a great clip over the past four weekends and did so again this weekend, reaching base six times in three-game set against Point Park University. In total Luttor went 3-for-10, picking up a hit in each game and also scored two runs, two walks and an HBP.

drew nixon, junior, valley city state university (NAIA)

28-for-104 (.269), .343 OBP, 12 R, 12 2B, 3 HR, 21 RBI, 10 BB, HBP
While it wasn't Nixon's best weekend of the season, he was able to drive the ball out of the yard for his third home run of the season for Valley City State. Nixon added three walks, two runs scored and two RBI as the Vikings split the weekend series with Viterbo University.

KYLE PERRETT, JUNIOR, UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO (NAIA)

10.1 innings pitched... 1 W, 1.74 ERA, 7 H, 6 BB, 10 K
Perrett had another impressive week out of the Racers bullpen with two scoreless appearances to lower his ERA to 1.74. The former Team Ontario right-hander pitched a total of 1.2 innings and allowed just one hit, one walk, an HBP and struck out two as Northwestern Ohio picked up two of four victories over the weekend.
