Team Ontario IF Hudson Kiss cracks the 2024 Ontario Youth Team Roster

by Nick Prasad

After the lengthy weeks of tryouts and evaluations, the 2024 17U Team Ontario Youth team roster has been announced. Team Ontario (CPBL) infielder Hudson Kiss has been named to this year’s team.

Kiss is a presence on the field with a sizable body on the athletic side and displays tools. He stands 6’0” 190lbs with a strong durable arm and athletic frame. He’s very loose and lengthy from the left-side batters box.

His swing is compact, covers the majority of the plate and his barrel stays in the zone with a contact approach and raw power. He has quick hands, good bat speed, and ability to use the entire field. His exit velocity reading averages at 92.3 mph and he max’s at 95.8 mph.

Defensively, Kiss covers a lot of land and works the back-hand and forehand well, showing off a strong arm with an infield velocity reading at 91 mph.

Pitching coordinator and head coach of the 16U roster, Kyle McKay, provided his insight on Kiss:

“Huddy has developed into a plus defender on the infield, he’s primarily a 3rd baseman but also has shown the ability to move around to SS and 2nd base while still showing plus Defence

His glove and feet show very well and has a plus arm with an Infield Velocity as high as 91 mph across the diamond

Offensively Huddy is at his best when he sprays the field with line drives, but also has the pop to drive the ball out when pitchers make mistakes. His top exit Velo has been as high as 96+ mph

He runs the bases very aggressively and does a great job reading the plays and reading the pitcher to swipe bases. High IQ baseball player who puts in the work daily and it has beyond shown “.
