Team Ontario Pro Alumni Update

RHP JOHN AXFORD

Organization: Toronto Blue Jays
Other: Canadian Sr. National Team
Current Team: FCL Blue Jays (Rookie)

Canadian Sr. National Team Olympic Qualifier: Axford recorded a save against Cuba in one of his two appearances last month at the Olympic Qualifier for Team Canada. Axford impressed during his time in Florida where his fastball sat 95-98. With the Blue Jays in desperate need of bullpen arms, it didn't take long for the hometown team to ink the former Team Ontario right-hander to a minor-league deal.

FCL Blue Jays: Axford has made one appearance since signing with the Blue Jays, which saw him get the ball in the FCL Blue Jays season opener on Monday. The Simcoe native pitched one inning, allowing just one hit and picking up one strikeout. It is expected he will be called up to Triple-A Buffalo (playing out of Trenton) shortly.

RHP ALEX NOLAN  

Organization: Toronto Blue Jays
Team: Vancouver Canadians (High-A)

Vancouver Canadians: After being released by the club last year, the Toronto Blue Jays brought Nolan back in May where he reported to Low-A Dunedin. After four appearances, Nolan earned a promotion to High-A with the Vancouver Canadians. In three appearances with the Canadians, Nolan has pitched to a 3.86 ERA.

RHP CHRIS LEROUX

Team: Canadian Sr. National Team || Olympic Qualifier

Former big leaguer Chris Leroux appeared in one game out of the bullpen for Team Canada at last month's Olympic Qualifier. Leroux, who pitched for three different MLB clubs, worked four-plus innings against Team USA.

RHP ALEX MACKINNON

Team: San Rafael Pacifics || Independant, Pecos League

San Rafael: Mackinnon graduated just over a month ago from Niagara University and has been tearing it up in the Pecos League ever since. In two appearances, Mackinnon has an impressive 17 strikeouts to just two walks, to go along with a 1.08 ERA.
