Wesley Knott Announces Verbal Commitment to Salem University

by Nick Prasad

Another big announcement for Team Ontario personnel; right-handed 17U pitcher Wesley

Knott announced his official verbal commitment to Salem University located in Salem, West

Virginia.

Knott has been stellar in all aspects of the ball field, especially defensively and most importantly

on the mound. After a long-fought college trip, Knott attempted to confirm the best fit for his

future of academics and baseball, and Salem was the choice.

Scouting Report

The right-hander has displayed the physical textbook on projectability and pitch-ability. His

grown and development from spring training 2023 to this date has been very visible. Knott is

5’11” at 165lbs, and is athletic. His body has developed and has room to grow.

He bats left and throws right, and can hold down shortstop and second base defensively. He

has quick feet, smooth hands, and a phenomenal arm that challenges runners with a top infield velo of 86mph across the diamond.

Of even more value is his arm on the bump, where his bread and butter stands. Knott is a

pitcher with a lot to offer from the off-speed standpoint. He can locate his fastball well, can work into the mid 80's early on, and works a good slider followed by a curveball and changeup. Knott has topped out at 86mph on the mound. His slider could

be his out pitch and sits at a max of 70-71mph with a 2188rpm. His curveball tops 69mph and

spins at 1783rpm. He displays good use of his off-speed and displays good knowledge of his

counts and matchups.

Knott will be a great addition to Salem, and Salem has a very coachable pitcher who will

develop with the established program they’ve built.
